Mark Hill

Recently the Juan De Fuca Curling Centre lost a valued member of our curling family. Mark Hill passed away June 30th, 2017 after a very brief illness.                    Mark started at Juan De Fuca many years ago in the Monday Night Men’s league and most recently played in the Thursday Night Mixed league. It was           always a pleasure to play both with and against him, and to enjoy a beverage with him after games. Mark will be sorely missed by all who knew him.

Val West

The Juan De Fuca Curling Centre recently lost another valued member of our curling family.  Val West passed away August 11th, 2017 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.  Val was born and raised in Esquimalt where she met Russell.  They were married in 1960 and began their life together in Edmonds, Washington, moving back to Victoria to raise their three girls in Colwood.  Val discovered curling with Russ when JdF first opened in 1975 and quickly found she had an affinity for the game.  She skipped her team to the Senior Ladies Provincials in 1994 and spent many happy hours at league curling and bonspiels.  Val will be greatly missed by all.
